I would like to clearly state my position on the protection of life.
I am against abortion and strongly believe that no government funding at any level should be used to end the life of a child or fetus. I will not vote for any bill nor any form of legislation that authorizes even a single cent to be used towards such ends and will work to defund organizations such as Planned Parenthood. I will support clean bills (bills that do not have pork attached) meant to defund abortion clinics and to eliminate the use of abortion.
I take the protection of life very seriously. As I Christian I recognize the Bible condemns the taking of another’s life, “thou shalt not kill.” As an American I recognize that our founding documents including the “Declaration of Independence” clearly stress the protection of life: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
It is because of my core beliefs that I cannot support abortion. For the same reasons I cannot support: capital punishment (the death penalty), Government sanctioned assassinations, torture, or any form of warfare that is not conducted in self-defense. To participate in or fund the taking of another’s life unnecessarily is to corrupt one’s very soul. I am not willing to finance or support any such actions and am unwilling to ask a taxpayer to do so.
