During the Biden administration, many, but not all, Democrats cheered gleefully whenever anyone who did not support their agenda got sick or died. In fact, many Democrats even wished death and suffering on those who did not support the shutdowns and mandatory vaccinations. Some individuals even suggested that those who did not comply should be locked up in camps.
“But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust” (Matthew 5:44-45, NKJV).
During the Trump administration, many, but not all, Republicans are cheering gleefully as individuals are deported or killed, even supporting unnecessary cruelty. Many of these individuals are even wishing harm or death on their perceived political opposition simply because they cannot agree with one another concerning political and religious ideologies.
“Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice, or the Lord will see and disapprove and turn his wrath away from them” (Proverbs 24:17-18).
In both cases, individuals have argued that the government should ignore our unalienable and constitutionally protected rights, thus further undermining the Constitution. In both cases, individuals are arguing that our freedoms should be forfeited or suspended to force their will on the opposition. In both cases, precedents are being set which will allow future administrations to move even further in the direction of totalitarianism and tyranny.
What happened to make Americans so callous? Is this because people have been manipulated by mainstream media and social media? Is this because people have become so jaded suffering under the abuse, lies, and excessive taxation of the government that they are simply ready to snap and lash out at anyone they disagree with? Is this because bureaucrats and politicians keep using highly emotional topics to distract people from actual items of importance? We are now at a point where few people can even have civil discussions regarding difficult topics; but rather immediately default to verbal abuse and name-calling if someone dares to disagree with them on even a single issue.
More importantly, what is the solution? The Bible tells us that Satan’s ways will become more prevalent as we approach the end times. Is this where we find ourselves today? Can the people of this Nation still repent, turn to God, and change their ways to save this Nation?
“When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:13-14, NIV).
“If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed, and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned. And if at another time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be built up and planted,and if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider the good I had intended to do for it” (Jeremiah 18:7-10, NIV).
